Workspace Tour

Updated on

EduSmart's Workspace is designed to allow you to be able to track and monitor student assignments, pre-built assignments, assignment playlists that have been shared with you from other teachers, live lesson playlists you have created, and live lesson playlists that have been shared with you from other teachers.

-----------------------------------------------

After you log into your EduSmart account, select the "Workspace" link.

-----------------------------------------------

Your Workspace will most likely be empty if you have not made assignments to students or used the other features available here.  This example has pre-existing information pre-populated for demonstration purposes.

-----------------------------------------------

There are various options available to you to use filtering to find the grade level information that you want to review.  These include choosing a grade level, choosing a specific reporting category folder, and creating your own folders for additional organizational options.

-----------------------------------------------

The Choose Grade option allows you to navigate to a specific grade level.

-----------------------------------------------

After choosing the appropriate grade level, the Folder option allows you to Show All information for that grade level or choose a reporting category folder.  Any customer folders you create would also appear here.

-----------------------------------------------

To add your own custom folder, choose the Add Folder icon and give the folder a unique name.  You have the option to make your custom folder a sub-folder under any existing folders on the platform.

-----------------------------------------------

After you have made your grade level and folder selections, you have five different views from which to choose:  Assignments, Prebuilt Assignments, Shared Assignments, Live Lessons, and Shared Live Lessons.

-----------------------------------------------

The Assignments tab will show you all individual lesson components or assignment playlists that you have assigned to students.  This view allows you to modify due dates as needed, and it allows you to add new students to an existing active assignment.  Notice the function icons on the right and the "Assigned to" feature just below each assignment.

-----------------------------------------------

Note that you can click on the ellipsis function key for additional features.

  • Assign - This icon shows you information about which class groups have received that resource as an assignment.  It allows you to add new students to a previously assigned assignment and edit the due date if necessary.
  • Share - This icon allows you to share the assignment with fellow teachers in your district.  The best use case here is to share an assignment playlist rather than individual lesson components since all teachers can see the lesson components and assign them directly.
  • View - This icon opens the lesson component or assignment playlist for your to review or use.
  • Edit - This icon allows you to make changes to the assignment as needed.  Please note that you cannot edit a resource that is currently assigned to students.  You would have to unassign it first and then edit it.
  • Duplicate - This icon allows you to make a copy of an existing assignment.  This might be used to duplicate and reassign a second attempt, or it allows you to keep the original assignment and make changes to the duplicate.
  • Move - This icon gives you a dialog box that allows you to associate the assignment with a different reporting category folder or customer folder.
  • Un-Assign - If you make a mistake or simply wish to remove an assignment, use this tool.  Please note that this will delete any existing student assignment data.
  • Remove (not shown) - If an assignment is unassigned, you are given the option to remove (delete) the assignment if necessary.  Please note that you cannot remove (delete) an assignment that is actively assigned to students.  It must be un-assigned before it can be deleted.

-----------------------------------------------

Select the Assigned To link just below the assignment title to see additional functions and information.

-----------------------------------------------

Notice that you have the same set of function icons below the assignment name.  You are also shown the group or groups that have this resource as a current assignment.  If you click on the group icon, you will see the names of the students who have received that assignment.

-----------------------------------------------

Under the Prebuilt Assignments tab, you will find prebuilt assignment playlists that are ready to use.  These occur in pairs, with the first playlist referred to as Learn It and the second referred to as Master It.  These can be assigned in their current form, or you can duplicate them and edit your duplicate copy.  You have the same function options as in the Assignments tab except for the Share feature.

-----------------------------------------------

If other teachers have shared assignments with you, those will appear under the Shared Assignments tab.  There is a drop-down menu on the right where you choose the teacher's name to see the assignments shared with you by that teacher.  You have the ability to Assign, Share, View, and Duplicate these shared assignments.  Best practice is to duplicate a shared assignment so that it appears under your Assignments tab.  By having a duplicate copy, you are able to edit as needed.

-----------------------------------------------

Live Lessons are playlists that can be created by you and used during direct instruction.  One major benefit of a Live Lesson playlist is that you can put together and sequence multiple lesson components into one handy playlist.  You have the ability to share your Live Lessons with fellow teachers, and you can launch the lesson by selecting the Start live lesson icon.  Additional tools found under the ellipsis icon are Edit, Move, Duplicate, and Remove.

-----------------------------------------------

Teachers can also share Live Lesson playlists they have created with fellow teachers.  To view Live Lessons that have been shared with you, select the teacher's name in the dropdown menu.  You will see Live Lessons from that teacher that you are able to use.  You have the options to Share, Duplicate, and Start Live Lesson.  It is recommended that you duplicate a shared Live Lesson if you want to edit it.  Duplicating the Live Lesson moves a copy to the Live Lessons tab and gives you more options than are available under this tab.
