This User Guide will describe best practices for receiving student work when using EduSmart's Fillable PDF and Google Doc Instruction Module Companions (IMCs).
Assigning Fillable IMCs to Your Students
Step 1: Navigate to the Instruction Module Companion (IMC) you want to use.
Step 2: Select the Assign icon for the IMC you want to use and assign the IMC to your students through the EduSmart Platform.
Step 3: Ask the students to log into their EduSmart accounts and find the assigned IMC on their EduSmart Dashboard and open it.
Step 4 (Teacher Instructions)
Students cannot save the PDF document to the EduSmart platform. Ask students to click the “Download” button in the PDF viewer and save the file to their device or a local folder. Provide instructions on any file naming conventions you prefer (e.g., Samantha_Doss_IMC1.pdf).
Students must open the saved PDF outside EduSmart to complete it. Remind them to save their work frequently.
⚠️ Important: If students do not download and save the PDF to their device, their answers will be lost and cannot be recovered.
Step 5 (Teacher Instructions)
After students complete the IMC and save it, provide them with clear instructions on how and where to submit their work for grading.
⚠️ Note: The EduSmart platform does not support file submission.
Common submission methods include:
- Uploading to Google Classroom or another LMS
- Submitting via email
- Saving in a shared class folder on your campus or district server
Choose the method that best fits your classroom workflow and communicate it to students.
Helpful Tips
- Ask your students to save early and to avoid losing work.
- Advise students to use proper file names (e.g. Samantha_Dos_IMC1.pdf) or specify a naming format.
- See that the students double-check after uploading to ensure they've submitted the correct version.
